CAN I LIVE IN SPAIN IF I CURRENTLY RESIDE IN THE USA?
The answer is YES, for all people and their families that are:
- American citizens.
- American citizens of Cuban, Puerto Rican, Venezuelan origin.
- American citizens of Latin American origin.
- Latin American citizens residing in the USA.
- Any citizen living in the USA.
- Citizens who have problems with their legal residency in the USA (as long as they do not have criminal records).
We remind you that any citizen of Latin American origin, who resides legally in Spain for 2 years, can then apply for Spanish Nationality (a great advantage compared to the 10 years required of other citizens of the world if they want to be Spanish by residence), so that once obtained, it also grants them European citizenship automatically, with all the advantages that this entails.
Initial residency may be requested for 1 year in Spain, after which it will be renewed in 2-year periods.
In addition, anyone who has been legally resident in Spain for a continuous period of 5 years may apply for Long Term Residency, also known as permanent residence. This permit allows to reside and work in Spain under the same conditions as a Spanish citizen and is renewed every 5 years, granting stability and additional rights to residents.
